Kim's Blog

Early Sunday Morning ...

All I can say is, "WOW!" I've been in weight loss a long time (on both sides of the spectrum) and I've never seen anything like the support on this blog. I'm hoping in mid-week to give everyone a clean slate ... and to say "HI!"

Welcome new bloggers: Kelli, Dawn from Iowa Tammy from Florida, Sharon from IL, Corbett from KS and all you anonymous(es)!

Petra—Back on track! WTG!

Allison—Great job at Chilis on your anniversary dinner!

Sandra—LOVE that you are weighing, measuring, using dessert plates!

Ask Kim ...

When someone emails a question that I think everyone would benefit from, I thought I'd put the answer in a blog. Here's one from Deb in NH.

Hi Kim,
Is there a way to calculate points if you do not have a slide or your handy online calculator?
Also, I thought of a great way to deal with the clothes I am going to out shrink... Make a quilt so it will remind me of the journey I have taken....
Deb from New Hampshire

Heading to Chicago...

this afternoon to film a few segments for a tv show. I'll be back tomorrow night to get ready for our next webcast meeting! Whoo hoo!

Thanks so much for your patience as we work out the bugs with our technology. We have obvious issues with the synching of the audio (which I realize is too low) and the video in the archived meetings. This will be corrected this week.

Down time ...

I'm in Maine this morning. The boys and I arrived last night and after a fun evening of baseball (13 innings ... late night!) we woke up to do what we do best in Maine -- nothing specific! It's been many months since I've had any vaca and the lack of routine is fun, but the lack of planning isn't.

I woke up to the smell of fresh home-made bread, a tray of crumb buns (a very old family tradition...who gets the piece with the biggest crumb?), and a case of Lindt Chocolate goodies (there was a 50% off sale at the mall and one of their neighbors endowed my parents with gifts).

Aaaaaaaaaaaah! ... IT'S HERE!

Support when YOU need it most!

Information. Motivation. Accountability. HELP! Community. If you have ever been part of a support group, you've experienced some of the benefits they have to offer. Statistically, people who attend support group meetings tend lose more weight than those who don't.

Happy Saturday everyone!

It's been beautiful all morning here in southweatern Connecticut. Most of my neighbors are out in their yards and the smell of fresh cut grass is a constant reminder that lazy days of summer will soon be upon us. And I have two little boys that remind me of that as well! How did that happen so quickly?!

I've been so busy getting ready for the new website launch (THIS MONDAY ... WHOO HOO!) I'm seeing cross-eyed! So Alan and Andrew and I are heading to the school playground for a little fun (and activity points). May all of you get some a breath of sunshine and activity today as well!

LIVE WITH KIM starting this week!

We still have some technical tweaking, but we're just about ready to launch. Within the next few days my next eNews will be going out with all the details, but here's a little info for now ...

Our LIVE WITH KIM, online meetings will be on Tuesday nights at 8:00 pm Eastern Standard Time. We're trying to keep both coasts in mind because, believe it or not, visitors to our site are pretty evenly dispersed throughout the country. Cool!

Something to think about ...

Hi all. Heading off to get ready for church, but wanted to take a minute to share two thoughts that have encouraged me...

Progress not Perfection.

and

I'm not telling you it's going to be easy - I'm telling you it's going to be worth it.

Keep working at it! THERE CAN BE ONE LAST DIET - ONE LAST TIME YOU START AGAIN! YOU CAN DO IT!

I'll be blogging later -- the ONLINE MEETINGS are starting next week and I want to tell everyone about it. Whoo hoo!

Gotta run. Make sure you plan your day!!
Kim :)

Morning everyone ...

Nothing in particular. I was just waiting for the boys to get ready before taking them to school and I was planning my day. Instead of doing it in my journal, I decided to blog it. Just wanted to encourage anyone else who's trying to lose weight to jump on board and do it, too! It is the ONE MOST IMPORTANT THING YOU CAN DO to lose weight!

Breakfast
Blueberry bagel ... 1 pt
2 clementines ... 1 pt

Lunch
2 slices light bread ... 1 pt
4 shaved slices lean pastrami ... 1 pt
1 slice light swiss cheese ... 1 pt
1/2 cup sauerkraut ... 0 pts

THINK SETTING SMALL GOALS DOESN'T HELP? READ THIS!

I got this email and thought it was priceless!
Way to go Dawn ... and thanks for sharing your
toes with us. Nice!

Hi Kim,
I reached my first goal. I am 198 pounds and in the 100's. A 23 pound lost! Hallelujah!!!!! My reward is to have my very first pedicure ever. I am so excited. I'm having it done Thursday morning. Don't be surprised if you get a picture of my feet. Ha! My next goal is 10 more pounds. I have to think of another reward. I'm not used to making goals, meeting them and getting rewards. Any suggestions? My ultimate reward when I reach my goal weight is a trip to Alaska to see my brother and his family in 2010.

Many Hugs,
Dawn

P.S. I'm doing lunges whenever I'm going from one room to the other and THEY HURT!!! But, I'm still doing them.
