Yesterday morning this time I was live on The Morning Show with Mike & Juliet. The car picked Mark and I up at 5:30 am. It was nice not schlepping foor or rushing to the train station like I do when filming Better TV. All the food for my recipes was being purchased and prepared by the Fox Network food stylists. Cool!
We arrived right on time and were ushered past the growing line of studio audience ticket holders. Everyone there was warm and inviting, but busy getting ready for the upcoming show. I was brought back stage to check out the dishes for the food segment of the morning. I was introduced to Jen, an adorable gal in a blue jumpsuit with two bright red braids who had been up since 3 am making all the food. It was gorgeous! Were these really MY recipes?! I've never seen them presented this beautifully!
Back to hair and makeup. Here I met Amelia Heape. I didn't know who she was at first, but she looked exhausted and told everyone how she had just rolled out of bed when she got that call that her car was there to take her to the show. I found out later, as we became friends, that Amelia was looking for "love in 90 days" and being coached on air to go to the right places and say the right things to find her true love. I'm not sure if it's something I would advocate or enjoy, but it's so fun to watch her having the time of her life pursuing something she's passionate about. Amelia's three weeks in ... will she get there?
One thing I loved about the show was the fact that it's a live studio audience. There was one man who's job it was to keep the audience pumped and energized and shouting out the correct responses. (Like booing the high fat foods and cheers for my low fat foods.) Mark watched it all from the sidelines and told me later that this guy should have been a stand up comic. He was great keeping the crowd's energy up during commercials, etc.
Mike and Juliet were truly lovely people and wonderfully professional. Before I came out I was hidden behind a wall where Andrew -- a stage crew member -- watched the monitor with me and made sure I knew where I was going when announced. He kept his hand on my shoulder and gave me a little shove as they called my name. Apparently more than one anxious guest has stepped out a few moments too soon -- not good for live tv.
It was such a fun morning ... which is a good thing, because they've asked me to COME BACK TO BE A REGULAR! Look for announcements on my site about my next Morning Show segment as I take everyone into the grocery store for tips on shopping! Whoo Hoo!

Hi, you know I haven't tried many of the recipes yet, because I have to go out of town to shop for some of it, but I have noticed that some of the recipes don't tell what the serving size is. Does this mean that I can eat it all? HAHAHAH Mariane

Hi 2b0yzm0m (Oh my goodness - I wish I knew your name) :)
We are always tweaking recipes. Neither is wrong. We noticed the sauce did better with a little thickening when making it for the lasagna s we added a little paste. They're both good and light. See which one you like best.
I think we did an easier version of the Key Lime for the food stylists at M&J and the lightest version for Finally Thin. That's another recipe that we've made two different ways. Again, neither is right or wrong and the nutritionals are right for each where posted. We don't do that with many of the recipes, but it so happens that two of the ones I gave them this month were altered a little. Sorry about the confusion. Thanks for blogging!

Hi Janet -- Mike and Juliet said they were posting my recipes on their site or I would have posted them here. I really try not to do a show and then not have the recipes available. The problem is I'm on weekly here, a host for Parents TV and then monthly on the Morning Show, so sometimes a recipe gets dropped here or there. You can always email and Peter or Penny will look it up for you. The problem is that as the site grows in popularity, keeping up with demand is getting harder and harder. We are working on being able to archive all our recipes at once, and not just have the 8 at a time. But that's the way it is for now. I really am glad you bought the book and that it helped you though. :)
OK Lavash. I bought the Cedar and also the Josephs brands in Costco and BJs before. But in case you can't find them, you're looking for a 9 x 12 wrap that says it's 50 calories and 3g of fiber for 1/2 the wrap. The entire wrap is a pinch over 1 pt. (Personally, when I'm just having the wrap, I shop off a half inch and count it as a point) So the whole wrap is 100 calories and I think it was 3g of fat, 6 fiber. Hope this helps.

Hi Kim -- YOU ROCK! Way to go. I am so proud of you! You're doing wonderful. I want to share my favorite saying with you. "Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going." Keep going Kim! Make those habits strong. Don't get sloppy. Keep riding that wave. You'll be there before you know it. (And when you get there -- don't stop doing it!)

OK Sorry everyone. That was a family interruption. :)
Hi Sandy -- Congratulations on your 45 pound weight loss! You must feel amazing. Thanks for asking. The original Kim's Cookbooklet is in reprint. It should be ready in about 3 - 4 weeks. We're also working on a 3rd (any suggestions for a name? I certainly don't want to call it "Going Back for Thirds" Ha!) Anyway, it's going to have meal plan suggestions with recipes that fit into those. So many people seem to have a rough time planning out their days and I think that's soooooo important.
Kathy -- Saying that you've had a rough go of it seems such an understatement. And I know that you know how great you're going to feel when you get some of this weight off! You CAN do it Kathy! One meal at a time. One snack at a time. Forget the big picture for now. That looking ahead can be a killer! The thing that helped me more than anything was planning out each day AHEAD of time. Writing it down as though I had already eaten it. I didn't have breakfast until my entire day was planned. Then I just checked it off as I went. Give it a try and see if it helps you as well. Let me know how you make out, ok?!! You go girl! Kim :)

Oh my gosh! Hi Auntie Tina! I love you so much! Thank you for taking my oldest boy in for the semester. I'm glad he has you for a roomie (I heard about your salad and rotiserie chicken supper the other night). But I'm awful glad he comes home from Boston every Sunday night to stock bagels. I miss him TONS! and the boys do, too. You're the best Aunt in the world and I am SOOOO proud of you. You look amazing and Adam says you have more energy than anyone he knows. Don't work too hard ... and thanks for blogging here. What a nice surprise. :) Kimmy
PS Lee's daughter Joy sent me an email yesterday through the site. It was nice to hear from her.

Hi Kim! I love your book..I've cried and laughed with you through the pages. I saw you on "The Morning Show" a few days ago and noticed that the recipe for your meat sauce included 2 cans of tomato paste, which is not in your book recipe or this site's recipe..also the key lime pie recipe used 4 oz. ff whipped topping instead of 8 oz. and the whole crust instead of 3/4 crust (like your book has). Just wanted to know which one to follow. I've lost 40 lbs. and you've been a great inspiration. I've bought many diet books in the past, but "Finally Thin!" is the only one I've ever read! God Bless.

Kim, I was flipping channels and saw your segment on the M&J morning show in Tampa. You had your lasagna and key lime pies and they were tasting them. Both hosts said that they liked our version better. I looked up this website to get the recipe and realized that I would have to buy the book first. I wasn't going to but I really wanted to try the Key Lime, my sons favorite. He also struggles with weight and I wanted to surprise him. I went and got the book yesterday and I am so glad I did. I read the whole thing and even went thru the recipes and wrote the points on each. My sister did WW and has kept the weight off, I did it with her without going to the meetings and lost most of my weight but have gained back half of it. In reading your book, you have really gotten to me in a way that no one else has been able to. Your honesty and humor are amazing! I felt ike I was in the room with you when you made your goal weight and had to laugh that your daughter would not let you replace your batteries. In God's hands, right?! I want to make the lasagna but I am not sure on the wraps. I am in the Tampa area and Publix does not carry the brands you suggested. Is there something special to look for when buying an alternative. I have gotten the Ole fat free ones, but not wheat. I didn't want to mess up the nutritional info you had listed. Thank you again for putting yourself out there

Yes, friends, I am a family member of this talented young woman. She has no idea I am writing this. I too have struggled with weight problems since the birth of my second child. Can you believe that I've had this incredible resource right under my nose and have not taken advantage of her encouragement and example? It wasn't until my doctor wanted to add another medication to control my diabetes that I finally said this is it. I've lost 20 pounds and have about 30 more to go. But I wanted to share with you the best tool that has been working for me. It's the Lighten Up 90 Day Diet Journal. There is so much creative space for your food, thoughts, comments and blood sugars. And the motivational thoughts on every page make me laugh and ponder. Thank you sweet Kim. You are an inspiration. nnbilym

Hi Kim,
I was visiting my mom in Michigan last week and we were able to find the Mike and Juliet Show on her cable network (I don't get it in North Carolina where I live). You came across so warm and genuine, just exactly how I thought you would be after reading your book. Just wanted to say I'm still at it a month after reading your book, I'm more than 12 pounds lighter, and even though I have had my moments of weakness and temptation I have not given up and I'm celebrating that loss and looking forward to more!

Dear Kim;
I just finished your book and it could have been written by me except I was always thin up until 10 years ago when I was involved in a car accident and developed fibromyalgia. I had to sell my business and since then I have gained 100 lbs. I too, have tried every diet. Thanks so much for the effort you put into the book. Once again, I am trying to lose the weight but this time with a different outlook. Keep up the good work that you are doing for so many. Love, Kathy

Wow Deanna! That's great! I soooooo need to do what you're doing at the gym. I was going regularly until the book tour started. I've let that be my "excuse" for not trying to find other times to fit it in. When I'm on tv I have to be ready to ho so early and .... anyway. I'm really proud of you. I'm going back tomorrow! Thanks. Keep up the awesome work. It's a lifelong battle, but so incredibly worth it. Right?! Thanks! Kim :)

I was on the treadmill at the gym watching you on tv. When I finished at the gym I went to the store and purchased your book. I finished it already. I felt like I could have been writing it for you. I started this latest battle with my weight on June 18th, 2008, and so far I have lost 47lbs. It feels like it is taking forever, but your book really gave me the hope and encouragement to push on. I started working out at the gym 3 weeks ago, and it has been very hard for me to be there, but I push myself everyday to go. I am up to 5 days a week, and stay there for an hour.
Thank you for all your information. I shared it with my husband and he seems excited to get started himself now.

Hi Dena. I'm so glad you were home, too! And I'm so grateful you are geared up and ready to go. You can do it! It's YOUR turn now Dena! :)

I just happened to be home that day, I normally would be working. I was so impressed with what you have done for yourself that I had to log on to my computer and look you up and find out where I could find your book, I am planning on going out today and buying it today. I have battled my weight all of my life and it seems no matter how had I try I just stand still. The only time I didn't have to worry about my weight was when I went thru my divorce, I managed to keep it off for years and then my life changed and the weight is coming right back and I just can't seem to get back with it.I had lost 100 pound thru this time. So needless to say you seem to be my mentor.
You look wonderful!!
