Holly and Max live on a small farm in the mid-west with their five children. She goes by the username armywife516 ... because that's just what she is. Her husband is a Major in the Army National Guard and is coming up on this FIFTH deployment! Here's Holly's story ...
In 2004 I found myself alone with 4 small children while my husband was deployed. I was carrying around 250 lbs on my 5'4" frame. It was such a hard time emotionally – and physically as well. I felt horrible and knew I had to do something!
I joined Weight Watchers® and lost 128 pounds over the next 15 months. Reaching Lifetime was such a huge achievement for me! I felt like if I could do it anyone could do it!
Over the next several years I had another baby (our fifth) and went through another deployment (our third), and gained about 30 pounds back after he got home. Even though it was no where near what I had to lose the first time, it still felt like a huge challenge. It was around this time I found Kim's site.
Her blogs and all the wonderful people I have met have made such a big difference in my life! Her live meetings always give me that extra push each week! I am 2.8 lbs away from being at my goal weight and I feel so happy and confident in myself again. As we prepare for yet another deployment I will continue to take care of myself so that I have the energy I need to get through it all!

Holly,
You look incredible! I'm so glad to read your story and you must know that you are indeed an inspiration to others!
I have made so many excuses and have justified so many times eating the wrong things. Here I read your story and the struggles that you overcame, the challenges of taking care of your children with your husband away serving our country, while you were worried about him too. Wow, your determination has been amazing and you have stayed focused on your goal. I am so in awe of you, and suddenly feel like I can do whatever it takes to reach this goal.
Thanks for sharing your story and CONGRATS!

Holly - Holly - Holly ----- good golly, Miss Holly!!! This is just super-dee-dooper to see you as a star --- a featured star who has come so far! I just loved reading your story again - I think I've read it 3 or 4 times now from your site, from the article, and from here -- but it's so inspirational and so motivating that it doesn't feel like a "rerun" -- you are just double awesome girl! I count it a priviledge to "know" you and look forward to sharing many more woohoo moments with you in the future!
Woohoo to you -- congrats on being featured -- you're doing great!

Holly, you are an inspiration and a beautiful person inside and out. You bring back a lot of memories for me. I was both Mom and Dad to my babies all those years ago while Jim was at sea or overseas. We were fortunate that when the first batch of kids (we have 6) got to be teenagers, he was mostly home. That was a long time ago and the kids are all grown now and doing very well
Keep up the good work as I know you will. I enjoy keeping up with you.

Wow Holly! You look wonderful! What a wonderful role model you are for your family and the rest of us. Your story is truly inspiring; you really cancel out the excuses for not losing weight: young children, husband deployed, too busy. I really admire you for your accomplishment. Thank you and your husband for your sacrifices for the rest of us. I know it is not easy, but you are appreciated. Susie

Holly, you are my hero! What an inspiration you are to me. I am also a military wife with young children who struggles with weight. I"m so excited to see someone who conquered it! (even through the extreme stress and emotions of deployments)You give me much hope. I am currently expecting baby #3 and my husband is away. I am quite overweight, but I have been very close to goal before and I know one day I will get there. Thanks SO MUCH for sharing your story! Folks like you and Kim truly keep me going. (((big hugs)))

Holly,
you are beautiful inside and out. You're half the woman you used to be :) Woohoo! You ROCK.
Thanks to you and your husband for all that you do for our country. I just became an American citizen late 2008 and I really do appreciate our military families.
DLynn, don't beat yourself up for not losing the weight before your son comes home. You were probably worried sick about him. Just revel in the joy of having him home and then you can get back on track. He just wants to see his Mum again, he doesn't care that you didn't lose weight.
Please tell him thank you and the Kimmies are happy he's home safe and sound.
Jo.

Holly congrats to you!!! What a fantastic "after" picture!! You are such an inspiration to me!! In a situation that could very easily be an excuse to eat out of control, you turned it around to a very positive time to concentrate on yourself!! How hard that must have been with almost the Brady Bunch!! (Without the lonely lady and the man named Brady) You ROCK!!!!
Kudos to you!!!!
Best wishes to you and your very brave husband!!

Congratulations on your accomplishment. I too have lost
130lbs. the old fashioned way and have kept it off now for a year and a half after having been overweight my entire life.
I use Kim's products along with WW and walk at least 2 miles per day. I thought that I could never do it as I am 64 years
young!
