Apple Crisp with Crumb Topping, Kim's

The buttery crumb topping adds a delicious crunch to this otherwise traditional apple pie filling.

ingredients
4 cups apples, sliced
1 tsp lemon zest
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp nutmeg
½ cup Whey Low Granular Sugar

2 tbsp light butter
½ cup Whey Low Gold (Brown) Sugar
½ cup old fashioned oats
2 tsp cinnamon
⅓ cup flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 350°.

In a medium bowl, sprinkle Whey Low Granular Sugar over fresh apples. Add lemon zest, juice and cinnamon and fold to incorporate. Pour into a 9 x 9 casserole dish. 

In another bowl, beat butter, Whey Low Gold (Brown) Sugar, and cinnamon until creamed. Add flour and work with your hands until mixed and lumpy. Sprinkle on top of apple mixture.

Bake for 35-40 minutes until topping has browned.
